For my daily Disney devotion on January 25th, I watched a very cool video. It is called Disneyland Dream and it a home movie, created in 1956, and it chronicles the adventures of the Barstow family, who entered a contest sponsored by Scotch tape, and won a trip to Disneyland. This is a very neat video, not just because it so expertly captures the feel of a family vacation the 1950s, but because it includes some very rare footage of Disneyland a year after its opening. In 2008 the film was added to the National Film Registry by the Library of Congress.
I'll admit that I am much more of a (Walt Disney)World traveler, than a (Disney)landlubber, but I really enjoyed seeing this early film and getting a feel for the spirit of Disneyland when it first opened. Its a really wonderful piece of Disney history, and I'm sure most Disney fans would enjoy watching it.
